C.V.V.O.A. Volleyball Playoff Selection Procedure

The Executive Committee has established the following playoff selection procedure, which will be used to choose officials for all post-season assignments:

  1. The Rating Committee (see list below) will convene at least one week before playoffs begin and examine written and oral evaluations from all sources.
  2. Based upon observations from the committee, feedback from coaches, and input from the Commissioner, the committee will assign every official in the Association as either Playoff caliber or Non-Playoff caliber; with Playoff officials then designated as Referee/Umpire or Linesperson.
  3. The Committee will decide the maximum level (District First Round, Regional Semi-Final, State Quarter-Final, etc.) each Playoff caliber official can work.
  4. Those officials who fulfill the requirements stated above will have their names submitted to the Commissioner, who will assign all post-season matches based on the limitations established in #3 above.

NOTE: The following items will also be taken into account when evaluating officials for playoff assignments:

a.      Willingness to work ‘road’ matches (e.g. Tidewater, Southside, and Bay Rivers Districts)
