OLD NEWS

Training Class Update

The CVVOA new member training class is now winding down. We have 13 members who are about to 'graduate'. The final two sessions will be August 5th and 12th. The Trainers would like to have veteran officials come out and be 'players' on the court to allow the trainees to practice blowing whistles and making calls. As always, we don't need all skilled players for this exercise. Only the willingness to help out the new members and the association is required. Please try to attend one of the two remaining sessions and come dressed to play.

New Member Training Class

The 2008 edition of the CVVOA new member training class has now been established.

The first class will be held on Tuesday, June 24th beginning at 6:00 pm at The Steward School, located at 11600 Gayton Road. Subsequent classes will be held the following 5-6 Tuesday nights at the same location.

If you or someone you know is interested in becoming a high school referee, please make plans to attend the first training session on the 24th. Also, please mark your calendar for Wednesday, July 30 at 6:00 pm at Highland Springs High School for the Virginia High School League State Volleyball Clinic. This clinic is required of all high school officials.

Students will need to bring their checkbooks to the first class in order to receive your course materials. At this time, the charge for taking the class has not been determined.

Please keep checking back in this web page to get the latest information on the training classes and the state clinic. See our 'Events Calendar' for the full training schedule and updates to the class requirements.

If you have any questions regarding the class or our organization, please do not hesitate to call Bruce Frye any evening at his home at (804) 737-3793.
