Time Limits

For AAA Varsity and Sub-Varsity Games in the Capital and Colonial Districts, there is NO TIME LIMIT.

For L.I.S. Schools, there is NO TIME LIMIT.

For Middle Schools in Henrico and Hanover, there is a 2-HOUR time limit. No new inning will begin after two hours. The time begins at the scheduled Game Time.  For example, if the game is scheduled for 4:45, no new inning will begin after 6:45. If the score is tied after the 2-hour time limit is reached, it is a TIE game.

NOTE: Play will end after the 7th inning even if the game is tied and time remains (i.e. no extra innings).

For all other schools, there is NO TIME LIMIT.

Tie-Breaker

For Varsity programs in Henrico and Hanover (Capital and Colonial Districts), the International Tie-Breaker will begin in the 9th inning. This is for teams belonging to either district. If a Capital/Colonial team plays a team from outside of these two districts, the coaches must agree BEFORE the game to play with the 9th inning tie-breaker. Otherwise, it will not be used in those non-district games.

For Junior Varsity programs in Henrico and Hanover (Capital and Colonial Districts), the International Tie-Breaker will begin in the 8th inning, not in the 9th as is done on the Varsity level.

For all other programs, there will be NO TIE-BREAKER rule.

How the Tie-Breaker works - each team starts the inning with the player who completed the last official at bat (i.e. the person in the batting order who is due up 9th in that inning), as a base runner on second base. Each subsequent inning will start the same until a winner has been determined.
