Play: R2 on second and R3 on third with 2 outs. B7 hits a high popup to F6. R3 races home and has crossed home plate when R2 runs into F6, causing her to miss the ball.

What’s the call? Does the run count?

Play: R3 on third. Two outs. On the 3-2 pitch to B7, R3 heads for home as the umpire calls a non-swinging strike on B7. The ball gets by the catcher and R3 scores. F2 retrieves the ball and throws to F3 just in time to nip B7 at first for the third out.

Does the run count?

Ruling: No. Per rule 9-1-1(a): A run is not scored if the runner advances to home during action in which the third out is made by the batter-runner before touching first base.
