Commissioner Election

The Special Meeting to elect the Commissioner resulted in a 'No Decision', in that neither candidate received a majority of the votes needed for election according to our bylaws. Eight members failed to cast a ballot.

In order to solve this ongoing dilemma, it was discussed that the bylaws need to be changed to match the election standards for the other elected officers of the association. A special Bylaws meeting will take place sometime in September in order to vote on the proposed bylaw change that will be published once written.

Please check back here often to obtain the latest news on this special meeting.

Losing a Legend by Jerry Stone

Today we lost more than a comrade in blue. We lost the very essence of what the game is about. Enjoying the moment, enjoying the people involved, the smell  the feel and sound of a ball field, that's what the "HAWK' was about. No politics, no pretences, no favorites, just the game. Wearing #`1 he was "one of a kind". Never lost for words or a quick quote the "HAWK' was bigger than the #`1 that he wore on his uniform. He was the "HAWK" ! No six point out call. As Henry would say, "if I look up and they are headed to the dugout, they must be out". To live to his ripe "ole" age and be active is one thing. To umpire and still do a darn good job of it, is unheard of. Even today, the "HAWK"  still could get to the right spot to make the call. Umpiring for generations of players and dispersing thousands of pieces of candy, with a gentle smile and a twinkle in his eye, the "HAWK" was someone that everyone loved and enjoyed being around.

I sure hope there is a candy store in heaven or the "HAWK" is really going to be upset.

May God rest his soul and may his memories be with us for many years to come.
