MROS Awards Banquet Update

 

The annual MROS awards banquet was held on Monday, June 28th at The Roma's Restaurant on Nine Mile Road. The following members were recognized for their achievement:

Allen Gravatt

 

MROS board member Allen Gravatt recently had back surgery to remove a bulging disk with bone spurs. Please keep Allen and his family in your thoughts and prayers.

Ronney McNeill

 

MROS member Ronney McNeill had surgery last week to repair a rotator cuff injury and will be out of action for one to two months. Please keep Ronney and his family in your thoughts and prayers. 

 

 

Passing of Eddie Small's Aunt

 

Eddie Small's aunt passed away on Monday, April 19th.  Please keep Eddie and his family in your thoughts and prayers.

 

 

MROS Three-Person Mechanics Clinic

 

There will be a Three-Person Mechanics Clinic held on Sunday, May 2nd at the Deep Run Community Center, starting at 4:00 pm.

 

The clinic is for those umpires expecting to work playoffs who are new or relatively new to 3-person officiating.

 

All members of MROS are invited to attend and attendance is highly recommended for those wishing to advance to post-season assignments. 

 

King and Queen JV Team Folds

 

The JV Softball Team at King & Queen HS has folded. If you have them on your schedule, you should get an email from The Arbiter stating same.

 

 

Highland Springs to Play at the School

 

The Highland Springs softball field is back open, so all games will be played at the school this year.

 

 

Trinity Episcopal to Play Offsite

 

Due to the fact that the new athletic facilities at Trinity are not yet completed, all home Softball games for TES will be played at the Southampton Elementary School field on Cheverly Road, about 10 minutes from the school right off Chippenham Parkway. Please see directions to the field under 'Driving Directions'.

 

 

MROS Organizational Meeting & VHSL Rules Clinic

 

Mark you calendar for the first MROS event for 2010. The annual organizational meeting will again take place in conjunction with the local VHSL State Rules Clinic. Both events will take place on Wednesday, January 27th at Mills Godwin High School. The MROS meeting will begin at 6:00 pm in the student commons area between the gym and the auditorium. At 7:30 the VHSL clinic will begin in the auditorium. FYI, the baseball rules clinic will take place at 6:00 in the auditorium.

 

 

Annual Business Meeting Update

 

At the annual business meeting held Tuesday, July 7th, the following Provisional Members were promoted to Full Membership Status:

MROS Awards Banquet Update

 

The 10th annual MROS Awards Banquet was held on Monday, June 29th at 6:30 at the Roma's Italian Restaurant on Nile Mile Road. Many thanks to Pat Maloney for his efforts in putting the banquet together and insuring that it was a huge success.

 

The following umpires received VHSL service awards for their service to high school softball: 

25 years - Tom Dent

15 years - Dick Foster, Tom McDonald, Robert Tanner

10-years - Allen Gravatt, Bob Guagliardo, Bob Provost

 

The following members were honored with the special MROS awards:

Collegiate School plays softball at their Robins Complex in Goochland.

 

Goochland Middle School plays their home games at the ‘Old’ Goochland High School.

 

Liberty Middle School plays their Home games at Poor Farm Park.

 

Maggie Walker/Governor’s School Home games will be played at the Henderson Softball Complex behind Henderson Middle School on Old Brook Road.

 

St. Catherine’s plays softball at the Goochland Complex off Patterson Avenue (Route 6) in Goochland.

 

St. Gertrude plays softball at Dumbarton Elementary School on Hungary Spring Road.

 

St. Margaret’s plays softball at their new athletic complex at 1300 Sycamore Drive off US Route 17.

 

Trinity Episcopal School plays softball (in 2010) at the Southampton Elementary School field on Cheverly Road.

 

Tuckahoe Middle School will play their Home games at Ridge Elementary School on Three Chopt Road.
