MROS Meeting Minutes

7/7/09

Deep Run Community Center

 

 

President Tom Dent called the meeting to order at 6:00 p.m.

 

Attendance was taken by sign in sheet.

 

Bert Wilson gave the Treasurer’s Report—balance of $3376.06.  At this time, this is an increase of $956.87 over the beginning year balance. 

 

The minutes from the previous meeting were accepted as presented on the web site.

 

Promotion of Members:

Dickie Foster introduced provisional members eligible for advancement to full membership status.  Congratulations to Charles Arvin, Patrick Crum, Wilson Grizzard, Chris Hammond, Stephen Heyer, Cecil Powell and Steve Sylvester on their promotion to full membership.  Also, Robert Tanner was voted in as a full member after transferring from another association.

 

Dickie, also, introduced trainees eligible for advancement to provisional status.  Congratulations to Jeff Carter, Randall Clary, Jim Gregory, Mike Mancini, Lynn Taylor and David Wooten who were voted in as provisional members.

 

Commissioner’s Report:

Bruce Frye gave out service awards to members not present at the banquet.  The association covered 550 games this season even though 20% of the games were lost due to weather.  Also, 43 playoff games were covered with 28 different umpires.  Congratulations to 9 umpires who covered the VISSA state playoffs and to 5 umpires who covered the VHSL state playoffs. 

 

Elections:

Jeff Buck conducted the elections and the following were voted in by acclamation; Bill Harrison-President, Tim Beard-Secretary and Allen Gravatt-Member at Large.  Due to Bill Harrison being elected President, his VP position became open and Joe Yates was elected by acclamation.

Tom gave some parting words as President and Bill asked for any comments or suggestions to be emailed to him.

 

There being no further business, Tom adjourned the meeting at 6:55 p.m.
