MROS Meeting Minutes
5/3/09
Deep Run Community Center
President
Tom Dent called the meeting to order at 5:30 p.m.
Attendance
was taken by sign in sheet.
Bert
Wilson gave the Treasurer’s Report—balance of $2,920.20.
The
minutes from the previous meeting were accepted as presented on the web site.
Commissioner’s
Report:
Be
on standby for more games as the weather has played havoc with the
schedule. We will be meeting with the
Bay Rivers District AD’s on May 6th. As soon as the teams are finalized, the playoff schedule will be
published.
Election
Committee:
Jeff
Buck reminded everyone that elections will be held in July and that the offices
of President, Secretary and MAL will be up for vote.
Banquet
Committee:
Pat
Maloney reminded everyone that the banquet would be on June 29th at Roma’s
on Nine Mile Rd. Please let him know of
attendance.
Mentor
Committee:
All
mentees should contact their mentor within the next two weeks. Then all mentors
should contact Bill Harrison with their recommendations by June 1st.
Training
Report:
Dickie
Foster went over the following points:
1.
reiterated using signals
2.
times for the base umpire to go out
3.
use of the safety bag
4.
batter hit by pitch
5.
overthrows
Dave
Hunt brought up his feelings on the following:
1.
plate umpire taking the lead runner
2.
taking off mask on foul balls
3.
the plate umpire covering for the umpire who goes out
4.
balls should go through the plate umpire
The
meeting was adjourned at 6:42 p.m.
The
next event is the banquet on June 29th. There will be reminders sent by your secretary. The next meeting is elections on July 7th
at the Deep Run CC. More news on this
will be sent out as we get closer to the date.
