MROS Meeting Minutes
4/17/07
Steward School
President
Jerry Stone called the meeting to order at 6:00 p.m.
The
attendance was taken by sign in sheet.
The
minutes were approved as presented on the website.
Bruce
Frye brought us up to date on Mike Hightower’s health.
Bert
Wilson gave the Treasurer’s Report and stated we have $1805.40 in our account
and that there are no bills outstanding.
His report was approved.
Bill
Harrison updated us on the Mentor Program.
He, also, let us know that evaluations were coming in at a steady
clip. He and Bruce reminded everyone
which evaluation to use and how to access it.
Allen
Gravatt reported that evaluations will be done the day of the annual meeting on
5/20. These will be done at the
umpire’s request and a sign up sheet was made available.
Joe
Yates reminded everyone that nominations were being accepted for the positions
of President, Secretary and Member-at-Large.
These will be voted on at the annual meeting.
Allen
and John Shepherd said that evaluations were being followed up with on-site
observations and that in the future, mid-season evaluations may be done to
allow us to work on improving over the last half of the season.
Bruce
gave the Commissioner’s report. He
stated that he has been to games “under cover” and is disappointed in the
hustle on the field. He, also, said
that the first part of May’s games have been posted. He reminded everyone to send in game reports regularly.
Dickie
Foster gave the Interpreter’s Report.
He went over a laundry list of items including the following:
1.
The plate umpire should remain on the first base side in between
innings.
2.
Missed third strike protocol.
3.
Illegal pitches.
4.
Dropped ball by pitcher.
5.
Obstruction.
6.
Line up cards.
7.
Positioning/Mechanics.
8.
Socializing.
9.
“Natural Scratches”.
10.
Flex rule.
There
was no old or new business.
The
next regular meeting is May 20th at Steward School at 6:00 p.m. A three-person clinic will be held on May 6th. Details will follow.
