MROS Meeting Minutes

3/18/07

Highland Springs High School

President Jerry Stone called the meeting to order at 4:00 p.m.

The attendance was taken by sign in sheet.

The minutes were approved as presented on the website.

There was no Treasurer’s Report in Bert Wilson’s absence.

Bill Harrison covered the Mentor Program. He reminded everyone to check the website for the pairings.

Bruce Frye gave the Commissioner’s Report. He introduced a new transfer member, Ellen Mooradian.

1. He gave instructions on how to handle potential cancellations due to weather.

2. Reminded everyone that the Plate Ump should make a game report on the Arbiter. The Base Ump can make notes, as well.

3. Reminded everyone about the “advance call” procedure. The Plate Ump should call his/her partner at least 24 hours in advance. If the Base Ump has not heard from his/her partner, they should call.

4. An evaluation form is on the website and should be used. They are confidential and only Bill and Bruce receive copies.

5. He gave out information concerning schools that use fields other than the school’s.

Dickie Foster gave the Interpreter’s Report. He reiterated several points.

1. No smoking on site.

2. Do not fraternize with coaches.

3. Do not socialize at the game.

4. The pre-game is a must—make time for it!

5. Modify the strike zone to fit the game.

6. Covered “live” and “dead” ball appeals.

7. Covered several aspects of the flex rule.

8. Covered all the signals we use during games for communication.

9. Covered several mechanics we use during games.

He fielded and answered many questions concerning these topics.

The next meeting is at Steward School on April 15^th at 6:00 p.m.

The meeting was adjourned at 5:40 p.m.
