MROS Meeting Minutes
02/20/06
Chickahominy MS
President
Jerry Stone called the meeting to order at 6:00 p.m.
A
sign-in sheet was used to record attendance.
Bruce
Frye presented the Treasurer’s Report, which was accepted as presented.
Dickie
Foster gave the Training Report and reminded everyone of the full day of
training on March 4th and 5th.
Bill
Harrison had nothing new to report on the Big Brother/Mentor Program, except to
note that there are changes due to some potential members dropping out of the
association.
Jerry
gave the Evaluation Report in Allen Gravatt’s absence. The goal is to get feedback from coaches and
fellow umpires to better our umpiring and to get the Commissioner as much
information as possible to schedule games properly.
Jerry
mentioned meeting attendance and the need to contact the Secretary if you are
going to be absent, late, etc. A
question concerning the definition of late was asked. Jerry answered that the board will clarify the definition by the
next meeting.
Dickie
gave the Interpreter’s Report and reiterated the Obstruction Rule. He, also, went over the “new” old rule
concerning the bat hitting the ball or the ball hitting the bat a second time
during an at bat. Questions were
fielded by Dickie and answered.
Bruce
gave the Commissioner’s Report, reminding everyone that the plate umpire is
required to enter a game report on the Arbiter. Please check the website
regularly for any information concerning MROS.
Volunteers are still needed for scrimmages. If enough umpires do not sign up, then assignments will be made
to umpire scrimmage games. VHSL clinics
are still scheduled for Staunton, Charlottesville, and Roanoke.
The
meeting was adjourned and we split into two groups for training sessions. Veterans went with Dickie and new members
went with Bill.
The
next meeting is Sunday, March 5th at 6:00 p.m. in the Chickahominy
MS library.
Respectfully
submitted by Joe Yates.
