MROS Meeting Minutes
2/15/06
Mills Godwin HS
President
Jerry Stone called the meeting to order at 5:00 p.m.
Attendance
was taken by sign-in sheet.
Jerry
welcomed everyone and sent all who had previously ordered the new alternate
shirt to the back of the room to pay for them.
Bruce
Frye presented the Treasurer’s Report, which was accepted as presented.
Dickie
Foster gave the Training Report and stated that training of new members started
tonight and will continue at the meeting on the 20th. The main training sessions will be held on
March 4th and 5th.
Bill Harrison gave the Big Brother/Mentor Program Report. Sheets with assignments were handed out to all concerned. He explained procedures that should be followed by all involved.
Ken
Clark gave the Audit Report and a motion by John Shepherd to accept the report
and seconded by Tommy Stefi was passed.
Dickie
gave the Interpreter’s Report and went over mechanics that all of us should be
practicing and using regularly. He
reminded us to use our left hand to remove our mask and to watch the catcher on
a foul ball, NOT THE BALL, so we can get out of her way. He went over a situation when no runners are
on base and there is a routine fly ball to the outfield. The plate umpire should follow the batter/runner
half way to first and will take any play at first (obstruction, throw back,
etc.) and the base umpire will be moving to second to set up for any potential
play there. Dickie will go over
situations at every MROS meeting as ongoing training.
Jerry
had the new members introduce themselves and then Dickie and Bill took them out
for a training session.
Bruce
gave the Commissioner’s Report, reminding everyone to sign up for a
scrimmage. The Arbiter gives us seven
days to accept an assignment; the Arbiter needs to be checked on a regular
basis. Look on the website for
potential and other pertinent information.
The phone list can be printed from the website, as well as, the Arbiter. Tucker HS will have a JV Invitational on
April 1st. Caps are in for
anyone who had previously ordered them.
April’s games will be published by the end of February.
Jerry
announced that orders would be taken again tonight for the alternate shirt and
all money should be in by the next meeting.
He, also, reminded everyone to sign up for scrimmages.
The
next meeting is Monday, February 20th at 6:00 p.m. in the
Chickahominy MS cafeteria.
The
meeting was adjourned at 5:40 p.m.
