Mills Godwin HS
President
Tom Dent called the meeting to order at 6:00 p.m.
Tom
introduced the MROS Board to the membership and new trainees were recognized.
Bert
Wilson gave the Treasurer’s Report—balance of $4,414.
Joe
Yates, Secretary, called roll. All
present members stood and let us know how long they have umpired.
The
minutes from the previous meeting were accepted as presented on the web site.
Tom
then recognized Jerry Stone for his career as an official and Joe Yates for
being Chairman of the New Kent School Board.
Allen
Gravatt, Member-at-Large, gave a report on the board’s investigation into
acquiring new jackets for the members.
After lengthy discussion the membership voted to phase in new jackets
over the next three seasons. The board
will decide on the manufacturer. The
jacket will be navy blue with red and white on the shoulders.
COMMISSIONER’S
REPORT:
Bruce
Frye handed out data sheets and asked they be filled out and corrections made
if necessary. He, also, handed out
1099’s for our tax forms. Later in the
meeting he spoke about the Central and Dominion Districts staying with our
competition. He, also, mentioned that
we had acquired Colonial Beach on a part time basis for this year. He told us the VHSL test will be online this
year and will need to be taken during February. At the end of the meeting rulebooks were handed out when
completed data sheets were turned in.
Bruce also mentioned that we would offer three-person crews for schools
if they requested. Umpires would
receive $50 each instead of the usual $65.
This will not be mandatory.
INTERPRETER’S
REPORT:
Dickie
Foster introduced his training team (Jerry Stone and Dave Hunt) and handed out
“40 Rule Myths” and asked us to read them.
Dave went over mechanics when in the “A slot”.

p.m.
The
next meeting is scheduled for Sunday, February 17, 2008, @5:00 pm at the Deep

submitted by Joe Yates.
